Overview Launches New iBLDC Motor Variant – Juno™
Overview is delighted to announce the release, to the market, of a brand new Intelligent, Brushless Direct Current, iBLDC, motor called Juno. Juno is the 4th iBLDC motor that Overview designs and manufactures from its HQ in London and complements Titan, Leto and Atlas perfectly.
Although Overview continuous to be very successful promoting and selling its Titan and Leto motors, when relatively light loads are needing to be driven, customer feedback was requesting that Overview develop a new motor variant that would have similar physical attributes and allow some technical compromises with respect to some key performance parameters whilst being available at a much lower cost.
This led Overview’s engineering team to develop Juno from a completing different engineering perspective than the current variants of Titan, Leto and Atlas. A value engineering exercise on Titan and Leto would not give the desired results.
Starting with a ‘clean sheet of paper’ mentality, David Jackson and his engineering team explored and deployed innovative techniques in the areas of encoding and positional feedback technology whilst keeping a keen eye on component costs.
When this development was concluded key parameters such as torque levels achievable and the use of Overview’s Servotorq™ firmware control system, common to the Titan, Leto and Atlas motors, were retained. Whilst compromises were made on minimum and maximum permissible rpm values and positional command and read back resolution.
This means that Overview can now offer Juno to customers who wish to offer pan tilt based products in markets were overall product cost of the complete solution is the overriding market driver and not worry about watering done some of the key benefits of iBLDC motor technology.
David Jackson, Head of Engineering, commented ’Overview strives to continually offer class leading solutions to all its customers’, adding ‘listening to customer feedback when it comes to developing new and innovative solutions leads to products such as Juno that keep us at the forefront in the technology area.’
